Its just a fly....wheel

Yesterday I had the very cool honor of visiting Flywheel press in San Mateo. Amber (the owner) took us on a tour of her studio and explained her thoughts on letterpress and design. She is an awesome small business owner and its always cool to meet inspirational women like her. It just makes me want to work harder to be able to have my own shop at some point. Anyway she is trying to embark on a new adventure and is currently looking for a grant to be able to buy equipment to teach children the art of letterpress. One of my biggest goals has been to be able to do the same thing.. Being able to teach children how to make things with their hands and to use their imagination to create unique design is such an important part of their development, not only in art but it teaches them to think in different ways. A concept that I think is lost. So hopefully one day I will be able to join Amber in the mission to keep kids hands on and actually making things on their own that they can touch, feel and be proud of.
Preacher out!   ;-)
